Developed late in WW II, the TBM-3W was equipped with a large ventral radome containing the APS-20 air search radar. The Avengers would patrol 80-100 miles away from the carrier group to provide early warning and vector in Hellcat or Corsair fighters. Post-war, they continued in this role with US and allied navies including the French and Canadian. Usually finished in the USN standard all-over dark blue finish. (model re-mastered in 2020)
