The Lavochkin La-11 started as an La-9 modified for long range escort duties. Entering production in 1947, over 1,100 were built, seeing combat over China and Korea in the 1950s. La-11s fought both F-86 jets and F-51 Mustangs in Korea, usually flown by North Korean pilots.
